The second round of Closing the Gap Refresh consultations kicked off on 24 July 2018, with 48 representatives from Indigenous peak bodies meeting in Canberra.
A list of possible targets and indicators were identified at the second and final Closing the Gap Refresh technical workshop held recently in Canberra.
Work has now begun to refresh the Closing the Gap targets in-line with the information gathered from stakeholders at consultations held around the country.
Since November 2017, 18 Closing the Gap Refresh consultations have been held across Australia with the aim of asking ‘What’s worked?’ ‘What hasn’t?’ and ‘How can we do better?’
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) has released Closing the Gap targets: 2017 analysis of progress and key drivers of change.
There has been great interest in the roundtables with around 1,000 people representing their communities, businesses and organisations.
Recently, the Commonwealth hosted a Closing the Gap Refresh Roundtable with Indigenous national peak bodies in Canberra.
Submissions for the Closing the Gap Refresh have been extended until 5PM (AEST) 30 April 2018.
The Closing the Gap Refresh consultations started in early November last year in Broome, Western Australia.
