Aboriginal woman in red dress stands in front of the Closing the Gap Refresh sign
I'm a proud Aboriginal woman. I am a descendant of both the Jawoyn and Wiradjuri nations, but I now live in Wimmera country up on the mid-North coast. I'm an entrepreneur. I run an Indigenous consulting company and really love doing that. For me, Closing the Gap is about improving the outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We need to have that as a platform and as a national agenda to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can have really successful and meaningful lives and be able to achieve what they want to achieve. In the next ten years, I want to see the focus on not the deficit, but really, on the strengths-based model that looks at the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and builds on that.
